Dreaming a world, threading a story, birthing characters to populate them and then taking that vision through the exhilieratingly torutured process of production, leading a talented team of creative geniuses, forging an experience for an audience, making the ethereal vision real, is the most satisfying act of creation... with the possible exception of rearing children.

There is no more demanding or rewarding left brain/right brain funciton I know of.

I've been working in production since I was 17: PA, sound recordist, cinematographer, assistant director, production manager, editor, writer, director, producer... and then I graduated from University and moved to a job in Los Angeles! Hired and mentored by Sydney Pollack, I moved into the Hollywood mainstream.

There have been all kinds of projects: from low-budget independent films to star-driven, big-budget, studio features, documentaries, music videos, animation/greenscreen hybrids, commercials and web projects. The budgets vary, the technology and the delivery methods evolve but the core of storytelling remains: connect and create a transforming, emotional experience for an audience.
